Ruth was a widow from a foreign country. She is in Bethlehem because she chose to stay devoted to Naomi, her mother in law. Naomi was also a widow.

They are broke and hungry with no men to take care of them. Ruth tells her mother-in-law that she will go out and find “someone” to follow who is gathering wheat and maybe they will let her pick up the scraps.

Not knowing anyone in this new country she’s in, she “just happens” to end up in the field of a man named Boaz.
Not only a relative of Naomi’s husband, but also a “Family Redeemer.” Also known as a Kinsman redeemer.

KINSMAN IS WHO HE IS. REDEEMER IS WHAT HE DOES.

So before Boaz even redeems the land for Naomi, and redeems Ruth by marrying her, he tells the men in his field to let her gather all the wheat she wants and to not mistreat her in any way. He immediately made a safe place for Ruth to have her needs met. Then Boaz, who Ruth “just happened” to run into, buys Naomi’s land so she will
always have a place to live, and marries this foreign woman, Ruth, so that this widow will be taken care of and have a son to inherit the land that was just redeemed.

Look how God protects you as He’s redeeming and restoring you at the same time. What a good God He is!
